The Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti hosted a high-level official meeting as Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende, Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti, formally welcomed Hon. Caydiid Ali Mohamed, Minister of Security of the Puntland State of Somalia, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Djibouti City. The meeting reflects the continued commitment of Djibouti to fostering strong security partnerships with regional counterparts and enhancing collective efforts to promote peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
During the discussions, Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation in internal security matters, noting that regional stability depends on coordinated approaches to emerging and transnational security threats. He highlighted Djibouti’s readiness to strengthen collaboration in areas such as intelligence sharing, institutional coordination, and capacity building, underscoring that effective security cooperation must be rooted in trust, shared responsibility, and long-term strategic planning.
Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende reiterated that the Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti remains committed to working closely with Puntland’s security institutions to address common challenges, including cross-border security risks and regional instability. He noted that such engagements are vital to reinforcing preventive security measures and ensuring the safety of citizens on both sides. The Director General further stressed that cooperation between security institutions should extend beyond dialogue and translate into practical mechanisms that deliver measurable outcomes.
For his part, Hon. Caydiid Ali Mohamed expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and professional engagement extended by Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende and the Government of Djibouti. He praised Djibouti’s constructive role in supporting peace and security initiatives in Somalia and the wider region, and affirmed Puntland’s commitment to deepening security cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional security developments and to explore future avenues of collaboration, including joint training programs, information-sharing frameworks, and coordinated responses to security challenges affecting the Horn of Africa. Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende underlined that strengthening institutional partnerships is essential to building resilient security systems capable of adapting to evolving threats.
The engagement concluded with both delegations expressing optimism about the outcomes of the discussions and agreeing to maintain close communication through technical and leadership-level channels. Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende reaffirmed that the Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti will continue to play a proactive role in advancing regional security cooperation and supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable peace, stability, and mutual trust among neighboring administrations.
