Djibouti Ministry of Internal Security Addresses Rising Tensions in Saylac

DJIBOUTI CITY – 18 December 2025

The Ministry of Internal Security of the Republic of Djibouti today issued an official statement regarding recent security developments in the Saylac region, following a resurgence of local clashes. Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende, Director General of the Ministry, confirmed that security forces have been deployed to stabilize the area and prevent further escalation.

According to the Ministry, the situation has been carefully monitored, and rapid response teams have been dispatched to protect civilians and secure critical infrastructure. Hon. Fagende Abdi Fagende emphasized that maintaining public safety and preventing the spread of violence remain the Ministry’s top priorities. The Director General also urged local communities to remain calm and cooperate with security authorities.
